3 tips to find Your people
Hang around me long enough and you’ll hear me talk about my strong belief in personal development and community.
Cultivating the discipline to self reflect and refine what’s in your control, while forming a network around you that lift you up, are crucial to your success.
Listen, anything you want to do is possible! Yes, there’s a lot you can do on your own, and the power of an enthusiast group of advocates and advisers behind you is likely one of the things you are missing.
3 tips to finding “your people” through networking:
1. Look at socializing as an opportunity to learn and discover. I could write a book about my weekly connections with people. Some have gone on to become the most impactful relationships in my life. Others have been a love note from above that I am on the right path. Openness to the possibilities of what might unfold is key!
2. Develop an interdependence for collaboration. Look at how you can create a win-win with those you form meaningful working relationships with. Diversify your spaces, be creative, and get to know who you’re in front of. Also, know your value card and think broadly about what you can give.
3. Know your “Why.” We hear it a lot, and with networking it’s no different. When you associate a deeper meaning to connecting with someone beyond yourself, you’ll become more authentic, enthusiastic and effective at it.
